The Revenant Cycle #2 - Working Notes (COMPLETED)

This page is the second in this series. You can view Cycle #1, including a basic description of the project here:

These pages are set up to give a behind the scenes look at the development these unique pieces of art. The model for Cycle #2 is Christopher Ryan. His studio session will be on August 25, 2015. After that session work in progress photos and working notes will be posted to this page as will the final images created from the session. Please feel free to comment at the bottom of this page or ask questions.

This is part of the setup for this sculpture. We are converting a weeded area into a backdrop setting. We've clipped the weeds back to form a small grotto among the leaves. We then used varying colors of spray paint to create a dappled effect on the plants. Tomorrow we will complete the painting and add lights throughout the leaves. Since the photo shoot portion of this sculpture is done at night, the lights will create an illumination of the colors (I hope) and create an added dimension to the background for the shoot.

I am also using the prep work to teach both of my studio interns the fine points of detail work where it comes to creating body sculptures.

Stage 2 of the design we added a bit more color to the leaves and then lit the whole area up with lights which will be varied as we go through the actual photo shoot.

Here are some of the work in progress photos of the design development

Here are the first finished images so far. More to follow.
