(BTC) The Ghost in the Soda Shop Mirror (Grey Cross)

BTC Stands for "Behind the Curtain". Its a look at work created by various artists, photographers and creators around the world.
Its a small peak behind the curtain as to how the piece was created and the conceptual ideas behind it.

All art comes with a story.

The Ghost in the Soda Shop Mirror is actually a true story as I saw it. We were in Ocean Springs Alabama, a very small resort type town on the Gulf of Mexico. It was late in the evening in December and most of the shops were closed tightly. The temps were warm. It was a magical sort of place with big hanging oaks and a park lit with christmas lights. There was no one on the main street except a couple of elderly folk sitting on a bench in front of a retirement home.

When we came across the Soda Shop it was low lit and locked tight but I could swear there was the face of a man behind the counter starting at me angrily from the gloom. My partner didn't seem to see him, so I snapped a few photos and we moved on up the street with an apprehensive glance back at the Soda Shop windows as I left. As I suspected there was no face showing in the photos and it may have only been an optical illusion, but it was worth trying to capture the image in my mind. I've seen a lot of spirits in my time and I've captured a few in my photo work over the years. Most were benevolent. This one wasn't. I'd be curious if that shop has any problems with poltergeists because I definitely to the impression it was not happy about its situation.

Just a side note. This is another one of those pieces where one of our many talented writers took a stab at a short story based on it. The author had not heard my story, so what he interpreted was strictly his own. If you'd like to read it you can find it at:
