WORK IN PROGRESS WAXWORK PAINTING
David's Luna is an abstract waxwork piece. The piece was based on the real life astro-photography of David Blanchflower. While the piece is an abstraction, the land forms on the moon are as accurate as we could get them.
The moon was created using a natural clay underlay which was then covered with a quick drying foam glue to create texture and protect the clay from cracking.
The color was applied by using metallic wax mixed together and melted directly onto the canvas.
This piece is being used as a training project for emerging artists training in the studio. The techniques of wax work are discussed in depth in other posts on the immortal artist website.
This piece is now complete. A full photo shoot will be done for it and it will be placed up for sale soon. We hope you've enjoyed watching its development. Check back for other Works in Progress at immortalartist.com
