Even the military have to eat. This lonely French Quarter restaurant was one of the few that stayed open, mainly servicing police and National Guard.
It was places like this after Katrina that kept some of us from starving. The few that were open would bring grills out and cook hamburgers for us. The power wasn't on in the early days, so this was our one hot meal of the day.
And in a strange parallel we ordered food delivered today from the grocery store because we cannot go out and buy it ourselves. With news that the meat supply may be breaking down, we may all crave a good hamburger soon. Life repeats itself.
