Nosferatu, the Ghost Ship (NEW WORK)

This is a conceptual piece based on a fictitious underwater sunken ship called the Nosferatu. She was a cargo ship that sunk near the Marianas trench in the 1950's. She snapped in half and came to rest amongst rock lava massifs.

Name: Nosferatu, the Ghost Ship
Art: Sculpture
Series: Ruin Series
Availability: Currently Available for Purchase
Price: $500.00 + S/H
Size: 13.5" x 11.5" x 13"

Details: The base is tile. The ship is made from dry foam and was carved to scale first as a new ship and then broken in half and re-carved to age her. The massifs and the reef beneath the ship are made from cypress driftwood. The coral growth on the massifs and on the ship and across the ocean floor were made from foaming glue. The piece was hung upside down and the glue was applied in 12 stages allowing each stage to drip and dry and then added to until the coral formed. The sculpture was tipped at different angles to get the glue to dry in a way that made it look like it was moved by the ocean current as it grew. The plant life was taken from real trees from a dried fungal growth found along the banks of the Mississippi River. The base uses real beach sand and real shells. The starfish is real

Each sculpture in this series is handmade and uses Mississippi River driftwood. Each sculpture is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity which includes its background story.
