NEW ORLEANS STUDIO LIVE UPDATE 02/04/23

STATUS: The studio will be open Saturday and Sunday. Sunday evening we will be shooting for the Wildwood series.

MODELS: We are still doing "open studio" for male models interested in volunteering to become art. This means no interview is necessary. Text or message to confirm a slot. Tourists are especially encouraged to visit during the 2023 Mardi Gras season.

VISITORS: Tours of the studio are always available. Text or message if you'd like to see what was LITERALLY created from the ashes of Hurricane Ida.

The Katrina Portraits - The Faces




To what do we owe these savage winds
That we've not yet given

To thee we've given our souls
Our livelihoods
Our families, our friends

To thee we've shed our tears
Mourned our shattered lives
Listened to the sounds of terror

We have nothing left


In the summer of 2015 I completed work on a large volume of work dedicated to the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The series is divided into three parts.

1) The Paintings
2) The Land
3) The Faces

The Paintings involve five pieces of sculpted wall art on canvas showing different aspects of the hurricanes wrath.

The Land involved photos I've taken of the New Orleans area over the past ten years where a hurricane has been added.

The Faces involved photos I've taken of New Orleans residents over the years where the faces have been removed and replaced with a swirling hurricane.

This was a very emotional volume of work. Having lived through Katrina and returned to New Orleans afterwards, each piece both photos and paintings were an emotional trip that this artist does not wish to repeat. It is my hope that these lend a personal face to the struggles that Katrina brought to the area and that each and every person in the region was effected in a deep and personal way.
