Maps have always fascinated me. I was drawn to them from as early as I can remember. I actually had aspirations once to become a cartographer. Even though I chose a different path, the ideas of maps still fascinated me my whole life.
I am always seeking ideas to explore within my art. Maps as abstract art is an idea I've wanted to explore for awhile. Not just your normal road maps, but maps of all sort of odd and unusual things, translated into an abstract universe where without the context of this explanation, some might not even realize what they were looking at.
I have the good fortune to come across many unusual maps in my time. So here in this virtual world I'll explore some of them. I hope you enjoy them. I know I have, in both their original forms and their abstract doppelgangers.
Enjoy the Cartographers Dream.
