Artists to Authors Project - Storytellers Submission Page

Authors to Artists explores the relationship between word and the art while releasing the rules and restrictions that usually accompany the submission of any piece of writing in this day and age.

Artist Grey Cross seeks through the Artists to Authors project to allow writers to create an intimate relationship with his work by creating stories around various pieces of his work without worrying about rules.

There are no word limits, no time frames, no lengthy rules or limitations to the artists creativity. Simply put, the author is on their own to create what they feel is a story that interrelates with the specific piece of art.

The project is self guiding. The writer chooses one of Grey's pieces in his Fantasies of a Mad Creator series and crafts a story that in some way reflects the piece of art.

Once they've chosen the piece then its up to them to let it speak to their imagination and craft a story. Some pieces of art may have two or more authors writing their own versions of the story. That's okay. No story will be the same and no authors imagination will see the same thing in the same piece of art.

Once completed the author submits the story along with a short bio of themselves and the story is added to the immortalartist.com website and shared among the various social media outlets. At that point they are free to choose another piece of art and create another story, or to just submit the one.

There is no skill level necessary to submit a story. Whether you are new to the writing world or a seasoned author, you may submit a story. We do ask before submitting that your story is edited to the best of your ability. There is no editorial staff for this project, so its up to the author to make sure their story is readable, spelled correctly, proper grammar is used and the story is as perfect as they can make it.

Once submitted you will be contacted once your story is accepted (or rejected) and added to the site. We ask each author to self rate their work. Both children's and adult content is accepted, but we want to place a rating at the top of each piece so that readers are aware if the content is adult in nature. Again there are no restrictions on the rating. You can be as simple or explicit as you feel your story needs to be. We just want to give readers a heads up.

At this time there are no plans to compile the works into an anthology which might be sold. But we reserve the right to do so in the future if we feel there is interest in doing so. At that time you will be contacted and proper paperwork filed with the authors who wish to contribute their stories to an ebook or print version.

If we reject the story, its based on some simple things. Either we felt it was insulting or purposely hurtful towards others. We felt it had absolutely nothing to do with the piece of art you chose. The editing was so abysmal that we couldn't make sense of the story. With that said, we reserve the right to add to this list in the future if something arises that we feel would make a story unacceptable. But this is a hothouse experiment. We know some stories will not always be personally pleasing to us. But we will still include them.

Remember, this is an experiment. the rules are kept simple so as to not limit each authors vision. Have fun with it. Explore your imagination and the imagination of the artist.

Grey Cross Studios and immortalartist.com reach an audience of about 1 million people a month. With that in mind we also extend an invitation to participating writers to advertise their work on immortal artist in order to give future and past works by each author as much exposure as we can.
