Artists to Authors Project

Welcome to the Artists to Authors Project!

This page will guide you to all areas that the project encompasses.

The project is divided into eight areas

Each area explores the relationship between word and art in different ways. This page is a navigation page.  Clicking any link on this page will take you to that area.

There are three areas currently available to explore.

  1. The Storytellers
  2. The Bard
  3. The Painter

The Storytellers asks authors to create short stories based on specific pieces of art in the Fantasies of a Mad Creator Series.
The Bard matches one author with multiple pieces of art that make up the Spirits of the Dead Series.
The Painter is the attempt of the artist to also be an author and offer his own written stories based on some of his works.

The remaining five areas will come alive in the following months. They will include:

The Lyricists asks song writers, rappers and composers to create music and songs that match specific pieces of art.
The Author matches one Author to a series of art and allows them the opportunity to craft a complete book or novella around that art.
The Biographers this matches authors to surreal portrait art and asks them to create a biographical story about the person in the portrait.
The World Builders asks authors to help craft a fictitious world based on specific pieces of art, creating aspects of the world individually and then bringing them together into one finished piece of work
The Poets asks authors to craft a poem based on specific pieces of art.

Project Background

The project is the brainstorm of experimental artist Grey Cross. In 2016 Cross began work on the Assimilation Art concept, where art takes on multiple meanings and crosses creative borders to morph into new forms. Since its conception, the artist has been constantly exploring the process of Assimilation and teaching it to other artists. The Artists to Authors Project is the first attempt to merge the writing world with the art world in an experimental project that hopes to teach all creatives a new way to look at their work.

The benefits to authors is the participation in something very different than what is offered most writers without all the rules that usually accompany the submission process.

Artists to Authors is specifically designed to place no caps on the author's creativity and no extended rules that may stop that creative flow.

There is no monetary profit to either the authors or the artist. The artist believes that when creativity is merged with profit, a spark of inspiration is snuffed out. Creatives begin focusing on the best ways to make money for their work and lose the creative inspiration that creating without any barriers can allow.

Any works by any creator are still owned by that creator. There is no proprietary ownership of works created within the project. This means that an author can request any of their work be removed from the project website at any time. The work is not shared, or used for profit or monetary gain by the project. If a piece of work becomes popular enough to warrant compiling Ebooks, disks or any other kind of profit-yielding materials, the creator will be contacted first and made a partner in the process. The same things goes for any works of art involved in the project. Grey Cross Studios owns all works of art and asks that creators obtain permission to use any piece of art outside of the context of the project.

The primary benefit for anyone involved in the project is increased exposure for the creator's work and name. Grey Cross Studios, along with the Immortal Artist website, reach an audience of around a million people monthly online, so the benefits of name recognition for anyone involved are greatly increased.
