I’m a young white person from Scotland, and I’ve been privileged enough to live my life without ever having to worry about my race. I spent a lot of time in South Africa growing up and it allowed me to hear stories and see first hand how POC were treated with such disregard, and the recent events of 2020 have reminded me so potently about how defiant I felt as a young child seeing oppression for the first time. I drew this piece because I wanted to portray the revolution the global community is showing to racism and segregation, and how powerful people can be when we stand together against oppression and hate.
