The Katrina Portraits were originally done in 2015 for the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. In 2020 those portraits are being re-imagined. Click the index link at the bottom to read complete information on this art project.
No offense to the model, Who is a very passionate person and who is also a very good friend of mine, but the pose represented dispassion to me. We saw a lot of dispassionate people during Katrina. People who didn't care about others. People who ignored the pain and fear of others. I remember a particular weather reporter in the days before the storm who continually prefaced his weather reports with "Just go about your business. This isn't going to be anything to worry about".
