The Katrina Portraits were originally done in 2015 for the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. In 2020 those portraits are being re-imagined. Click the index link at the bottom to read complete information on this art project.
If your familiar with my work, you've seen this lady before. She was an evacuee from a hurricane, but not Katrina. But four years later for Hurricane Gustav. For me she is the face of sorrow. Her fear of her home and belongings and the unsure nature of evacuating from a pending disaster reflects why I chose her for this portrait.
