Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (Preserved Mushroom Sculpture)
Created in 2019, this sculpture was made using real dried giant mushrooms illuminated using a stylus with metallic paint. The base is gray slate and the pedestal was created from a section of a house pillar that was removed during a renovation. It stands 14" high and weighs approximately five pounds.
The preservation of nature in art is a favorite medium of mine to work with. The use of leaves, bark, rocks, wood are all materials that create incredible art. Past works include a root ball saved from a cut down tree and mud Crawfish Castles which have been dried and preserved.
